Each pet is different! Your pet’s hair contains all the minerals present in their body, including nutritional minerals – as well as toxic heavy metals. By providing a sample of your pet’s fur, FurLife can provide a scientific analysis of your individual pet’s current health and recommend customized multi-vitamin supplements specifically tailored to your pet’s needs.
A fur tissue mineral analysis (FTMA), simply stated, is a screening test that measures the mineral content of your pet’s fur. However, an FTMA is much more than a test for minerals. Fur analysis can often be more indicative of what is going on in the body than blood or urine analysis.
We are one of the only labs that do not wash the fur. Washing fur samples has been shown to erratically wash out the water-soluble elements. We automatically retest any reading that is out of a normally expected range, provided sufficient fur is available for a second sample.
Your pet’s individualized Fur Analysis report takes many factors into consideration along with your pet’s age, sex, and current health symptoms. What emerges is a very comprehensive report complete with graphs and accompanying explanations and recommendations for your pet.
Simply part the fur and cut as close to the skin as possible. The total amount of fur needed is about a tablespoon. Proper collection of the fur sample is extremely important.
Pet’s fur is inspected, recorded and secured in the computer database. It is cut and weight before a pre-programmed series of digestion sequences, then analyzed using the highly sophisticated ICP-MASS Spectrometry Instrument.
To accurately tailor to each individual pet, hundreds of factors are evaluated. What emerges is a very comprehensive report complete with graphs, explanations and recommendations specific to your pet.
